Child and Family Services

TALLCREE TRIBAL GOVERNMENT

Children are at the heart of our community. Tallcree Tribal Government’s Child and Family Services program supports children, youth, and families with care, respect, and a strong connection to culture and community.

Our focus is on strengthening families, supporting the wellbeing of children, and helping every child remain connected to their identity, language, and Nation.

When families reach out, our team begins by listening and working together to find respectful and practical solutions grounded in community.

Supporting Families

Tallcree’s Child and Family Services program provides prevention, early support, and protection services for First Nations children and families living on reserve.

Prevention is central to this work. Supporting families early helps address challenges before they grow and strengthens family relationships.

When protection services are required, they are approached with care and respect, always considering family, culture, and community connections.

Services follow provincial legislation and align with the national law An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families.

Support for Youth

Young people leaving care often need continued support as they move into adulthood.

Post-majority supports may be available for youth and young adults who were formerly in care, continuing until age 26 or as defined by provincial legislation.

The goal is to support stability, independence, and strong connections to community.

FAQ

TALLCREE TRIBAL GOVERNMENT

Sometimes children need to be placed outside the community because of immediate safety concerns, limited housing or caregiver options, or because certain supports are not available locally. When this happens, every effort is made to keep children connected to their family, culture, and community.
